In the
spring of 1989 I came limping into Faith
Assembly in need of healing in my spirit.
Back then Mark and Kristy Schaufler were my
next door neighbors. One afternoon Kristy
and I were visiting with each other at the
fence separating our backyards. I was
weeping and she was feeling my pain. She
encouraged me to come to Faith Assembly with
my children and just sit. The first morning
I came here, I knew I was home. I knew that
God had given me this beautiful church as a
gift for my healing and His good pleasure.
As the
months passed, Christ poured His life into
my life. The kindnesses and affirmations of
His body at this church, coupled with
scripture and prayer, brought wholeness.
And now, 18 years later, a different kind of
disease attacks me. Before it was cancer of
my spirit, now it is cancer of my physical
body. But this church is as strong now as
it was then. It continues to move, alive
and active. Once again the saints here rise
up to fight for one of their own. I know
that prayers are being prayed, scriptures
are being claimed and the love of Christ
comes bursting through in my life.
I fell
in love with the body of Christ at Faith
Assembly of Lacey those 18 years ago and I
am still in love. My experience here has
changed my life, given me ministry
opportunities and connected me to a
community of friends.
