Curtis & Patti Clewett |

| Curtis & Patti Clewett, founders and directors of
Project: Spain, with their four children have served as
missionaries in Barcelona since 1991. Their work has
focused on building contemporary “cell group” models for
church planting, and directing the ministry of King’s Kids
in Spain, turning a mission field into a mission-sending
nation
As national and regional King´s Kids leaders, the Clewetts
have reproduced “next-generation missionaries” by training
and sending over 1500 Spanish teenagers on short term
outreaches throughout Spain and places like Lithuania,
Italy, Romania, Morocco and more recently, China and
Nepal. A dream years ago is becoming reality as young
people discipled in their teens are now twenty-somethings
leading and inventing outreach ministries to the Hip-hop
culture, prayer movements, “underground worship”, internet
invasions, cell groups for dreadlocks, and emerging
churches.
In 1999, the Clewetts established “JAUMe 2/20” a center
for youth activities, outreach, and training; projecting a
“visible faith” to the city of Barcelona, according to the
challenge of James 2:20: “…faith without works is useless”
(NASB). 2002 marked the birth of La Lanzadera, a six month
training school for emerging youth leaders. Now in its
seventh year, this course has helped transform burned-out
program directors into passionate disciplers for 70
graduates from more than a dozen local churches.
Responding to the irresistible tug of God´s compassion,
Curtis and Patti planted a new church, “La Iglesia Lokal”
in 2003. Housed in a former discotheque, El Lokal has
become a reference point for emerging youth ministries
throughout the nation, opening a window to the reality of
Jesus to a God-conscious-less generation.

The Clewetts bring a rich ministry
background to the mission, having spent a combined total of more
than 40 years of ministry in various interdenominational,
Assemblies of God and Vineyard churches on the West Coast, Hawaii
and across the Pacific Islands before responding to a call to
Spain in June, 1991 to help direct the Olympic Games outreach in
Barcelona.
Curtis, a gifted worship leader and Bible teacher, has seen winds
of refreshing begin to blow in this nation where less than 3/10ths
of one percent (0.3%) call themselves evangelical Christians. “We
see a growing focus on prayer and radical Christian living, absent
when we arrived seventeen years ago. Our prayer has become ‘Thank
you Jesus...but we want more!!’. Along with many other Christian
leaders, we sense that a time of visitation is upon Spain. God
willing, we want to mentor and release as many young Spanish
leaders as we can, challenging the church with new models of
evangelism, prayer and worship to effectively reach and disciple
this key generation.”
