.We have been missionaries, living in Argentina, since 1988.
Dave actually arrived in Argentina in 1963 as the son of
missionaries Dick and Sharen Ellis, so he was raised in Latin
America. Our first two terms were spent in the city of Cordoba,
the geographic heart of the country. There Dave and Carol
founded the university ministry, Contacto Universitario.
University students were considered an unreached people group
back then. They have overseen the development of this ministry
throughout the country and helped pioneer campus ministry in
other countries of Latin America as well. Dave is currently the
Director of the National University Ministry Department and the
AG World Missions University Ministry Representative in Latin
America. Dave and Carol have also planted two churches during
their 20 years in Argentina and helped in the planting of
others.
Dave and Carol have now been asked to return to Argentina and
serve as Area Directors of what is known as the Southern Cone.
This area is comprised of the countries of Argentina, Brazil,
Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay. We will have leadership
responsibility with the missionaries in these 5 countries and
work closely with national leadership. We will continue to work
to develop campus ministry and we are excited at the possibility
of working to reach unreached people groups in Brazil, for
example, where there are 57 such people groups.
